Silver Lining…

August 12th, 2009

Just to keep you updated - Scott played his little heart out on Tuesday at the qualifier, but it wasn’t enough to secure him a spot.  Silver lining of course was that it was a great learning experience. He got to see what it feels like to be competing again - which he loved - and he now knows how these qualifiers work and what to expect.  The competition is tough. 130+ guys fighting for about 15 spots..   An excerpt from his posting on Facebook:

I had 2 triple bogeys which I don’t think I have EVER done in one round of golf in my life. On a positive note, I made 6 birdies, but the damage was done. Shot 75. Fought like hell and can’t wait for the next tourney in Kansas City. I also got heat exhaustion and spent 4 hrs in the ER waiting to see a doc :)

So - next qualifier is Monday the 17th - he will head to Kansas City tomorrow to start practicing on the next golf course.  Thanks for all the warm wishes, prayers and happy thoughts.

Weather Delay!

August 10th, 2009

Scott did not get to play golf today because the weather was awful.  Rain, thunder and lightning all day - so his new tee time is tomorrow morning at 10:20am.  Keep sending those happy thoughts his way!!

Tee Time

August 8th, 2009

HI!
Well, I dont know if anyone out there reads this blog, but I promised to dilligently keep “you” posted on Scott’s journey so here it is….

I spoke to Scott today and he found out his tee time for the qualifier on Monday.  It will be around 1:30p -now that I am typing this, I can’t recall the exact time he told me.  He was hoping for an early time since the weather there is so miserable. By the middle of the afternoon it will be extra hot and humid which will also bring wind and bumpy greens (according to Scott).  BUT the positive side is that the previous 2 practice rounds he played at the course earlier this week were at noon and 2pm, so he should be will prepared for the conditions at this time of day.  Both rounds he played this week he shot 68 (par is 70 for this course), so i am confident that he will dominate and do GrrrrREAT!

That’s all for now!  Too be continued…

Friday Updates

August 7th, 2009

Scott emailed me on Wednesday to say the following -( I meant to post it sooner, but the days are just flying by)

I’m doing good, we just got back to the hotel from the practice round.  I played really well, even though I didn’t have a chance to hit any balls before we tee’d off and I haven’t played or hit balls in about 4 days.  I shot a 68 today and left a lot of shots out there, but overall I was fairly happy.
It is BEYOND hot and humid here, I can’t even describe how hot it is.  Eric is just beside himself with the humidity :)  I’m kind of used to it growing up in NC, but it is sooooooooo hot.  You just sweat from everywhere no matter if your in the shade or not.  Eric did a great job as my caddie today, so we are off to a good start.  The golf course was absolutely beautiful and in fantastic shape!!  I look forward to playing it again on monday :)

I find out on Friday what my tee time is for Monday, hopefully it will be in the morning so we don’t have to bake in the afternoon sun.

So, thats the update for now. I havent talked to him much yet today, but should have more exciting details to post after I talk to him tonight.  Amber is in town keeping me company for the weekend.  We spent all day shopping for fabric and stuff and now we are home relaxing and watching Watchmen.

Too be continued….

He’s Going the Distance!

August 4th, 2009

Today marks the beginning of  a very exciting time in our lives.  At 6:ooam this morning, I dropped Scott and his friend/caddy Eric off at John Wayne Airport.  For those of you who already know and.. well.. for those of you who do not - Scott is pursuing is life long dream of being a professional golfer. He has been training, practicing and diligently eating his Wheaties (not really) for about the last six months and today boarded a flight to Kansas City, MO to get settled in before his very first Nationwide Tour Qualifier on Monday, August 10th in Ozark, MO.

On a selfish note, I did speak to Scott this afternoon after he and Eric arrived at their hotel and was very jealous to hear that there is a Hobby Lobby store just a mile down the road from where they are staying.  Being the good husband that he is,  Scott offered to scope out the store for me (after he gets in a few practice rounds, of course) and see if they have any especially cool fabrics for my new sewing endeavors.  Such a wonderful and selfless man I married :) But enough about me! Scott did say that everything was going great so far - his driver picked them up right on time and the ride from the airport to the rental car place in Platte Woods was totally painless.  They got a nice rental car and drove the 3.5 hours to Ozark without any icky traffic issues.  The hotel is comfortable and the area they are staying in is safe.

So…….I just want to take this moment to say how excited I am about starting our very first blog ever. Thank you so much for all of your contributions, support, encouragement and love and and a very important thank you to God for the many blessings that have already been upon us.  Scott having this incredible opportunity is truly a miracle and something neither he nor I take for granted for a second.

I will do my best to keep you all thoroughly updated on the journey. To be continued…
With Love,
Melissa
